Wilderness lies in the heart of the Garden Route, right on the coast and the National Highway N2.

“In the Wilderniss build me a nest
Let me remain there forever and rest”

From Wilderness there are many scenic drives to make within a day. So it’s an easy place to stay for a few days. Visit Oudtshoorn, with the famous Cango Caves and Ostrichfarms or Tsitsikamma National Park and other popular coastal places such as Plettenberg Bay and Knysna.

Also the Wilderness National Park, about 100 km² with lakes, rivers and lagoon is a place not to be missed. About 70% of all the waterbirds of Southern Africa, among the Malachite Kingfisher, the Sacred ibis and the Spoonbill can be spotted in the wetlands of Wilderness. Besides birdwatching the area, with it’s lakes and rivers, is ideal for outdoor activities like boatrides, hiking, mountainbiking, parasailing, (shark)diving, water-skiing, canoeing and sailing.

And …..

The Cango Caves and the famous ostrich farms from Oudtshoorn are only an hour and a half away.
Between June and November you can see the whales jumping in the ocean from the coast of Wilderness.
